By establishing the Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA), BiH has secured the conditions for taking over the control and management of its airspace. BHANSA was founded in 2009, by adopting the Law on Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency ("Official Gazette of BiH", no. 43/09) as a non-profitable and financially independent institution with the status of a legal person. BHANSA's headquarters is in Mostar, and other organizational units are located in Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Tuzla.
Thanks to the joint efforts of all our employees, our partners and friends , on 13 November 2014 BHANSA, started providing services from the Air Traffic Control Unit (ATCU I) in the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina up to 10 000 meters height (from FL 100 to FL 325). We are taking steps and conducting extensive training of our personnel in order to take over a complete control over the BHs sky and to start providing the full spectrum of air navigation services beyond 10 000 meters (FL 325).
The Law determines that the BHANSA shall collect revenues from air navigation services charges, which include:
a) provision of the air traffic control services,
b) provision of communication, navigation and surveillance services,
c) provision of aeronautical information services,
d) provision of aeronautical meteorological services,
e) operations of rescue coordination center in searching and rescuing,
f) education and training of the air traffic control staff ,
g) export and import for the needs of the Agency,
h) other tasks and operations which are in service of providing for safe air navigation
In carrying out its activities BHANSA shall apply the principles and procedures of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), as well as the national legislation which regulates the air traffic control.
