MOSTAR, 10th of May – The Director of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) signed a Contract for the upgrading of the data processing system with the Spanish manufacturer of the equipment, Air Traffic Management Company - INDRA Sistemas S.A. thus fulfilling one of the key requirements of the Action Plan for the realization of Phase II, ie the assumption of responsibility for the provision of services in the entire airspace on the date 05.12.2019.
This project will ensure constant compliance with EU standards, but also the competitiveness of BHANSA on the European air navigation market. The upgraded data processing system will be installed in Operating Unit Sarajevo, Operating Unit Banja Luka and Approach Control Unit and Aerodome Control Unit –Sarajevo, including a simulator in Mostar and a test platform in Banja Luka.
By realizing this Contract over the next 12 months, an existing system will be upgraded with the necessary tools for the operational work of air traffic controllers. This will enable the safe provision of air traffic control service in the area of competence of the Area Control Center of Bosnia and Herzegovina to FL660 and improve air traffic safety.
The upgraded data processing system will also allow shortening of the distance and duration of the flight (so-called free route planning), which will increase the volume of air traffic by increasing revenues, reducing fuel consumption and emissions of greenhouse gases.
