BHANSA made a significant contribution to establishing one of the largest free route airspaces in Europe

On June 26, 2024, an international meeting took place in Vienna to mark the completion of the project to expand the Free Route Airspace SECSI FRA. This innovative project covers the airspace of eight European countries, including Austria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Slovenia. Additionally, in 2024, the project included the airspace of Italy, known as FRA IT. The implementation of this project established one of the largest free route airspaces in Europe.

The connection between the two airspaces was presented by the director of BHANSA, Mr. Davorin Primorac, together with the executive directors of Austro Control, Mrs. Elisabeth Landrichter and Mr. Philipp Piber, Crocontrol director, Mr. Mario Kunovec-Varga, ENAV operational director, Mr. Maurizio Paggetta, and SloveniaControl director, Mr. Srečko Janša.

This will enable shorter flight routes between SECSI FRA and FRA IT, contributing to optimized and environmentally friendly air traffic flow in southeastern Europe and lead to substantial reductions in CO2 emissions of around 30,000 tonnes per year.

BHANSA is proud to have contributed to this important project which will improve air traffic in Southeast Europe and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
